The range
DC and Soni pins we stock
One lead product and five more alongside it. The variants differ on barrel size, whether the collar locks, and whether you need the plug side or the socket side.
RG-DC-4017Y
4017 Soni Pin
20.5 mm Yellow, Lock Collar
The yellow-collared Soni pin, 20.5 mm long, with a locking collar at the cable end so the plug stays seated when the lead gets tugged. This is the one most of our counter buyers order by name, and the one we keep deepest on the shelf.
Also in this category
4017 Soni Pin 20.5 mm — Yellow
The lead product. Yellow collar, 20.5 mm body, locking collar at the cable end. Ordered by name more than anything else in this range.
DC 5521 — Black Plain
The standard 5.5 × 2.1 mm barrel in the plain black finish, without a collar. The everyday replacement pin for adaptor leads.
DC 5521 — Black Collar, Heavy Q
Same 5.5 × 2.1 mm fitment in the heavier build, with a black collar. Thicker wall and a firmer solder tail for work that gets handled hard.
DC 5525 / 4017 Soni 2 in 1 (Set)
Two fitments on one lead, so a single cable covers both sizes. Supplied as a matched set rather than as loose pins.
DC Socket
The female half, for the equipment end or a panel. Takes the plug from the front and solders from the back, so it wires up the same way every time.
DJ Pin 6.35 — 1 Pole
The 6.35 mm single-pole plug, with a moulded strain relief at the cable end. Sits outside the barrel range but sells alongside it.
Another size?
The barrel range runs wider than what's shown here, and we handle parts made to your own sample. Send the pin you're matching and we'll tell you what fits.

Which one to order
Barrel connectors are unforgiving about size — a pin that is close but not right will either fall out or refuse to seat. Match on the fitment column.

Where they're used
What buyers fit them into
Barrel connectors carry low-voltage DC from an adaptor into equipment. Almost anything with a separate power brick uses one.
Adaptor lead assembly
Building and re-terminating the lead between a power brick and the equipment. The bulk of what moves through our counter.
Router and set-top boxes
The most common failure point on a home installation is the plug, not the adaptor. A new pin saves the whole unit.
CCTV and LED supply
Runs where the cable is cut to length on site and terminated by hand. The locking collar matters here.
Panel and enclosure builds
The socket mounts into the equipment and takes the plug from the front, which is how most enclosures bring power in.
Repair and service counters
Small counts, mixed variants, bought regularly. We pack in counted boxes so counter staff aren't weighing out loose pieces.
Small-batch manufacturing
Where the same pin goes onto a line week after week and the fitment has to match the last lot exactly.

Before you order
Barrel sizes are close enough to each other to be mistaken by eye. A 5.5 × 2.5 mm plug will push into a 5.5 × 2.1 mm socket and then arc or fall out, so measure or send the old pin rather than judging from a photo.
Trade names are not standardised. Codes like 4017, 5521 and 5525 mean different things to different suppliers, so match on the fitment column above rather than the code alone.
If your build depends on an exact length, pin diameter or current rating, ask us in writing and we will confirm it against the lot we would ship you.
Ordering
How an order runs
Four steps from first message to dispatch. Most enquiries clear the first two on the same day.
Tell us the variant
Name it from this page, or send a photo of the pin you're replacing next to a ruler. On barrel connectors the measurement matters more than the name.
Get the rate
We come back with a rate for your quantity, the packing option, and a dispatch date. Ask for the full rate list if you buy across variants.
Check a sample
On a first order we send samples so your bench can seat one in the socket and check the fit before you commit.
Confirm and dispatch
Confirm the quantity and delivery city. We pack to your count, raise the invoice against your GSTIN, and dispatch.
Questions
Asked before you buy
If your question isn't here, send it on WhatsApp — we'd rather answer it before the order than after.
What does 5521 mean?
It's the barrel size: 5.5 mm across the outside, 2.1 mm across the inside pin hole. The number is the measurement with the decimal points dropped.
The other common size is 5.5 × 2.5 mm, written 5525. The two look almost identical and are the single most common ordering mistake on this range.
What is the lock collar for?
It grips the plug so it doesn't work loose when the cable is pulled or moved. On the yellow 4017 Soni pin the collar locks; on the plain 5521 there isn't one.
For a lead that gets plugged and unplugged daily, or one running to equipment mounted out of reach, the locking collar is worth the difference.
Why is the yellow Soni pin the lead product?
It's the one our counter buyers order by name and by the box. We keep it deepest on the shelf, so it's usually the fastest to dispatch and the easiest to repeat against a previous order.
What's the difference between Plain and Heavy Q on the 5521?
Same fitment, heavier build. The Heavy Q has a thicker wall and a firmer solder tail, and it carries a black collar. It costs more and survives rough handling better.
For a lead that sits behind a router and is never touched, the plain one is fine.
What does the 2 in 1 set give me?
Two fitments on one lead, so a single cable covers both sizes without the customer needing two products. It's supplied as a matched set, not as loose pins.
Do you supply the socket as well as the plug?
Yes. The DC Socket is the female half for the equipment or panel end. Order both together if you're building the lead and the enclosure, and mention it so we can check they match.
Can I order a small quantity, or mix variants?
Yes to both. Send the list with counts against each variant and we'll quote the whole thing together, including any BNC or Type C parts on the same order.
Do you supply parts that aren't on this page?
Yes. The barrel range runs wider than what's shown here, and we handle parts made to your own sample. Send the sample or the drawing and we'll tell you whether it's a stock item or a new tool.
